A. “for” 是一個「介詞」(preposition) 

 

例 (1) 表示給誰的: This present is for you. 

 

例 (2) 表示向誰幫助:- What can we do for you? 

 

例 (3) 表示誰關切 -Fortunately for us, we have won the trophy! 

 

例 (4) 表示代表誰 -I am speaking for my client. 

 

例 (5) 表示被誰聘請 -He’s working for the Government. 

 

例: (6) 表示為了什麼 :-We would like to shake your hand for a warm welcome. 

 

例 (7) 表示支持誰 -Are you for the president, Donald Trump? 

 

例 (8) 表示原因:-Hong Kong is famous for its harbour scenery. 

 

例: (9) 表示要得到什麼:-They came for your advice.  

 

B. ‘for’ 是一個連接詞 (conjunction) 解「因為」

 

例: -We all paid attention to listen, for he brought good news to our family.
