Not only but also 用法
‘not only A but also B’ 可寫成 ‘not merely A but B’。
1. Not only A but also B 是對等連接詞。A 和B 詞性 必須對等。
例: You have betrayed not only my trust but also my love. (A和B都是名詞)
例: The speech was not merely wordy but tedious. (A和B都是形容詞)
2. Not only A but also B 的A 和B時態 必須對等。如A 若是句子，可以用倒裝句。
例: The delicacies not only smell great but also taste good. (A和B都是現在式)
例: Not only do the delicacies smell great, but it also taste good. (A用了倒裝句: 即以問問題的「形式」來直述。)
